Mindanao Conference on Climate Change
Sowing the seeds for a coordinated Mindanao response to climate change
The Philippines is consuming 225 million barrel of oil every year. Roughly it cost around $9 billion. If we divide the cost equally:
Per
province = $111 million or P5.4 billion per year
Per city/municipality = $5.5 million or P270 million per year
Per barangay = $214,000 or P10,500,000 per year
If we substitute petroleum oil with bio-renewables produced by local communities, the money will instead pump-prime the local economy rather than being repatriated to the oil producing countries in the middle east. And it will cut carbon emission from petroluem fuel up to 78%.
In the conference, we will discuss these potentialities. We are inviting the Mayor of Bayawan City to discuss how the LGU enhanced its transport fuel self- sufficiency thru renewable biofuel.
